The YMCA of Muncie announces that Chad Zaucha, President and CEO, will be stepping down as he accepts a new leadership role as President & CEO of the YMCA of Greater Birmingham in Alabama, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of transformational change, strategic growth, and deep community impact.

Since joining the YMCA of Muncie, Chad has guided the organization through a period of unprecedented growth and innovation. Under his leadership, the YMCA strengthened its foundation for long-term sustainability while dramatically expanding its reach and relevance in the community.

"Chad has been a visionary leader and a passionate advocate for equity, access, and community partnership,” said Beth Trammell, YMCA Board Chair. “His leadership has positioned the Y for continued success well into the future. We will miss him deeply, and we are proud to see him continue his service to the YMCA movement on a broader scale.”

Among Chad’s notable accomplishments:

  • 24/7 Facility Access: Modernized membership offerings with round-the-clock access to meet the needs of today’s families and professionals.

  • Capital Vision Realized: Led the planning and construction of the new $32 million YMCA in the heart of downtown Muncie—a beacon of opportunity, inclusion, and vitality for generations to come.

  • Revenue & Philanthropy Growth: Achieved significant increases in both operating revenue and charitable giving, building a stronger financial foundation for the mission.

  • Team Development: Recruited and developed a powerhouse team of mission-driven leaders prepared to carry the Y’s vision forward.

Chad’s impact is felt not only in the new facility and expanded programming, but in the strengthened relationships and trust built throughout the Muncie community.

“The heart of our work has always been people,” said Zaucha. “It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve this community, to work alongside an extraordinary team, and to help write the next chapter of the YMCA of Muncie. I leave with deep gratitude and unwavering confidence in the future of this organization.”
